THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON TEACHING TRANSLATION: BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES IN THE CLASSROOM
Tóm tắt
This article examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on teaching
translation in higher education. It examines the ways in which AI tools, namely machine translation,
computer-assisted translation, and neural machine translation, are revolutionizing professional
translation practice along with the pedagogic processes involved in training future translators. The study
enumerates the benefits of integrating AI, including customized learning, enhanced productivity, and
enhanced industry alignment. But it also mentions issues like technology dependency, decreased analytical
thinking, change resistance from teachers, and barriers in implementation. The article proposes ideas on
how to balance AI tools with traditional methods, design effective classroom activities, and incorporate
AI-focused elements into curricula. It concludes by laying down key directions for future research,
particularly on long-term AI implications on translation competence and curriculum planning. It seeks to
equip students with technological proficiency while maintaining linguistic and cultural richness in their
translation capacity.
