TEACHING SELECTED CONTENTS OF GENERAL PHYSICS USING THE ANALOGY METHOD AT TRA VINH UNIVERSITY
Tóm tắt
The article explores the application of the analogy method in teaching General Physics at
Tra Vinh University (TVU). This method compares complex physics concepts with familiar everyday
situations, helping students easily visualize and absorb knowledge. For example, in mechanics, the law
of conservation of momentum is likened to rotational motion; in electricity, electric current is compared
to water flow; in optics, light interference is associated with water waves. At TVU, some lecturers have
implemented it, combining illustrative videos and practical experiments to enhance students’ interest and
self-study capabilities. Notable benefits include deepening understanding and fostering creative thinking,
though challenges exist such as the risk of misunderstanding if analogies are inaccurate and limitations
in facilities. The article recommends expanding this method at TVU, along with teacher training and
research to evaluate its effectiveness.
