In the practical teaching of reading and understanding literary works in general, and teaching lyric poetry in high schools in particular, teachers often focus on perceiving the work as the primary objective. In other words, in terms of purpose, this reading approach aims to extract information rather than to read for the sake of experience. When approaching literary works in general, especially lyric poetry, it is essential to employ appropriate reading methods. Therefore, based on reading to understand the content, attention should be paid to the requirements of reading for appreciation, reflection, self-understanding, and understanding life itself. This is a way of reading aimed at mutual interaction, penetrating between the literary images and the inner world of the reader, also known as aesthetic reading. For the reasons mentioned above, this topic concentrates on proposing some methods for organizing the teaching of aesthetic reading of lyric poetry in high schools with the hope of helping teachers and students gain a deeper understanding of aesthetic reading when approaching lyric poetry works. It contributes to improving the effectiveness of teaching Vietnamese literature in high schools on the path of educational reform today.
