Tóm tắt
This article reports an action study that emerged from the practice of teaching intermediate English classes with 20 students. The study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of English speech recording practice with feedback on improving learners’ English speaking skills and their motivation to learn English. Recording practice was done after class hours, and students worked on 12 topics, one topic per week. For each topic, group partners gave feedback on recorded talks, and students might re-record after receiving feedback. The research instruments included two speaking tests comparing students’ speaking skills before and after 12 weeks of intervention, questionnaires and interviews. The results indicated that the recording activity with feedback had positive impacts on improving students’ speaking skills and students’ motivation. Therefore, the results of the study can make an important contribution to the application of recording practice in foreign language learning and teaching.
