For the past decades, linguists and educators worldwide have worked on sophisticated approaches to maximize the efficiency of English language teaching and learning in general and methods to teach vocabulary to English learners successfully in particular. It is undeniable that phrasal verbs are so expressive that they are very widely used in native speech, especially in spoken English. Working as a lecturer of English, I find that phrasal verbs make up a huge amount of verbs in business texts and course books that I am using and want to find out a reasonable explanation for the use of phrasal verbs which cause troubles in comprehending for students and teachers as well. Understanding the concept of phrasal verbs, the researcher could also put forward important suggestions to enhance the effectiveness in teaching phrasal verbs in particular and vocabulary in general to English students.
