Vietnam’s border and island cultural heritages in general and Hai Phong’s border and island cultural heritages in particular are an important part of knowledge in the Heritage Tourism module for students majoring in tourism. This is a subject related to finding, exploiting and preserving heritage values in the tourism industry. On the basis of understanding the values of coastal and island cultural heritages, students can develop skills in explaining and conveying information to tourist; and at the same time, suggest ways to manage and preserve heritage Hai Phong’s border and island cultural assets in the developing tourism scene. In this article, the authors focuses on analyzing three values expressed in some typical border and island cultural heritages in Hai Phong: historical values; spiritual culture value and the value determines national territorial rights with the hope of helping tourism students better understand local cultural heritage and effectively exploit their value in tourism activities.
