Placed in Ly Van Phuc’s system of envoy poetry, Chu Nguyen Tap Vinh Thao is a poetic work with less of a diary or memoir nature, with bold characteristics and appearance of a literary work. Furthermore, the collection of poems was composed during the last embassy trip of Ly Van Phuc (a mandarin who specialized in envoys under the Nguyen Dynasty), so the content and art have many differences and have a relatively special role. In terms of art, the work is valuable in its diversity of talent, richness in language system, flexible and erudite use of classics. In this article, we have conducted statistics, analyzed and evaluated those artistic features to highlight the characteristics of the Nguyen Dynasty’s envoy poetry in general and the unique characteristics of Ly Van Phuc’s envoy poetry in particular.
