Developing a Career Curve Model and Competency Framework for Construction 4.0 Engineers: A Mini Review and Research Directions for Vietnam
Abstract
The Vietnamese construction industry is undergoing a profound digital transformation driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Yet research on developing a career curve model and a competency framework for 4.0 construction engineers is still under-researched. Based on an analysis of existing literature, this study proposes several potential research directions, including (1) developing a career curve model for construction engineers in the Vietnamese 4.0 context, outlining specific developmental stages in their professional journey; (2) developing a comprehensive competency framework for 4.0 construction engineers in Vietnam, integrating technical knowledge, practical skills, soft skills, and a deep understanding of the local context and labor market demands; and (3) introducing the Systematized Career Pathway Construction Method (SCPMC), which offers novel and innovative elements compared to traditional approaches in developing career curve models.
