Abstract

Analysis of structures under blast loads is an obligatory requirement for defence and special works. However, the calculated results of the explosion problem are still very complicated with large errors. In Vietnam, the current popular calculation method is the equivalent static load method. The method only is suitable in case of specific cases and does not indicate the dynamic response and progressive collapse of the structure under the effect of blast loading. The paper is aimed to apply numerical simulation to analyze the progressive collapse of a monolithic reinforced concrete frame under the impact of contact blast loading. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data. The comparison shows that there are similar and acceptable between them. Hence, the paper has suggested some progressive collapse resistance solutions for high requirement structures under the effect of contact blast loading.
