Analysing and evaluating the bearing capacity of pile foundation accounting on influence of number of piles in the group

Abstract

The main content of the paper is to analyze and evaluate the pile group coefficients of different methods and to simulate using Plaxis 3D software for analyzation the behavior of the ground and the causes of the group coefficients. The results show that the pile group coefficients analyzed and calculated from the simulation results approximate the results suggested by Braja M. Das (1998). The simulation results show that the load carrying capacity of the piles in the foundation is not the same. Here, the center piles carry the least load and the corner piles carries the most. The greatest reduction in frictional mobilization in the center piles and side piles occurs within a depth of approximately 1/2 the width of the pile raft. The research results help the design engineer to have an overall view of the behavior of the pile foundation in order to calculate and arrange the piles more reasonably.
