Prediction of axial capacity of concrete columns reinforced with fiber reinforced polymer bars based on the M5P tree model
Abstract
This study proposes a highly-reliable formula that considers all possible input variables to predict the axial load capacity of FRPreinforced concrete columns. The proposed formula is based on experimental data from previous studies and the M5P regression tree model, and it is compared with four formulas from other authors worldwide. The results show that the proposed formula demonstrates the best prediction with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.955. Based on the M5P model, three variables including Cross-sectional area of concrete columns (Aq); Elastic modulus of FRP (Efrp) and Axial load capacity of concrete (f’c) have a significant impact on the prediction results.
