Abstract

The Tra Cu embankment plays a crucial role in protecting riverbanks and preventing erosion. The upgrading and expansion of the road along the embankment alter the load conditions and soil stress, which affect the stability of the structure. This study evaluates the impact of infrastructure upgrades through four stages: existing operation, construction expansion, post-upgrade operation, and extreme rainfall conditions. Simulation results indicate that the construction phase experiences the highest deformation and internal moment due to the load from equipment and construction materials. After being put into operation, the structure becomes more stable, but the safety factor decreases. Under heavy rainfall, pore water pressure causes the safety factor to drop to 1.31. The study emphasizes the necessity of controlling construction loads, improving drainage systems, and monitoring the structure to ensure long-term stability and sustainability.

Keywords: Dike stability; technical infrastructure upgrading; safety factor (FS).
