Abstract

The study aimed to identify the components constituting psychological difculties in participating in Physical Education classes among fourth-grade students at Nguyen Thi Dinh Primary School, Ho Chi Minh City. The study was conducted with 269 students (141 males and 128 females) using document analysis and synthesis, interviews, and statistical methods. The scale comprised 24 observed variables initially grouped into four hypothesized dimensions. The results of Cronbach’s Alpha analysis indicated good internal consistency across the component scales, with α coefcients ranging from 0.801 to 0.861. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) identifed a four-factor structure consisting of anxiety and fear; lack of self-confdence; avoidance and passivity; and lack of interest, with a total explained variance of 71.17%. These fndings reflect the four-component structure of psychological difculties within the sample of fourth-grade students surveyed at Nguyen Thi Dinh Primary School and provide a scientifc basis for proposing measures to improve the effectiveness of Physical Education teaching.
