Abstract

Abstract: This article publishes the paper presented by Dr. Nguyen Duy Cuong at the XXV World Congress of Philosophy held in Rome, Italy, from August 1-8, 2024, under the overarching theme “Philosophy across Boundaries.” From the perspective of those scholars researching and teaching philosophy in Vietnam, the paper outlines the unpredictable and challenging global and national conditions of recent years. These conditions also define the working environment for our researchers and teachers of philosophy. The article specifically analyzes three objective and subjective barriers currently facing philosophical activities in Vietnam. The author also expresses confidence that, thanks to the active efforts of the Vietnam Philosophical Association and support from both official and unofficial organizations and individuals, these barriers will gradually be removed. This will enable Vietnamese philosophy to develop healthily and make significant progress in the future, meeting the legitimate expectations of the society and the field itself.

Keywords: World Congress of Philosophy, Philosophical Association, research and teaching of philosophy, barriers, aspiration to contribute, social responsibility
