THE THOUGHTS OF JOHN LOCKE ON THE ORIGIN AND NATURE OF THE STATE - ITS CONTENTS, HISTORICAL VALUES, AND SOME BASIC LIMITATIONS

Abstract: John Locke (1632 - 1704) was a famous philosopher of early modern Western Europe and one of the intellectual roots of the French Enlightenment movement. With his famous work Second Treatise of Government, J. Locke directly presented a theory on the State, especially his explanations regarding state power, which contributed to developing the theory of the rule of law State. Studying his theory of the State helps us gain a deeper understanding and can guide us toward a correct model of the state in practice. This article focuses on analyzing Locke’s views on the origin and nature of the State and highlights the historical values and limitations of his thoughts.
