ON SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF JOHN DEWEY'S EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Abstract: As a major representative of pragmatism, John Dewey (1859 - 1952) brought many new points to pragmatism, making it not only a philosophy with an American thinking style but also helping spread America's spiritual symbols worldwide. Educational philosophy is one of those symbols. It can be said that Dewey's educational philosophy met the development needs of late 19th and early 20th-century America, including the need to strengthen America's position in the global development space. The article focuses on clarifying the characteristics of Dewey's educational philosophy and identifying its enlightening and humanistic values – values that continue to stimulate educational reform thinking worldwide.
