FUKUZAWA YUKICHI’S THOUGHTS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENT AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON VIETNAMESE THOUGHT

Abstract: Yukichi Fukuzawa (1834-1901) was a prominent Japanese thinker of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His reformist and modernization thoughts formed a comprehensive system of concepts and views across various fields such as philosophy, law, diplomacy, and education… and especially concerning human development and the progress of Japanese society. Since the 20th century, his thought has been studied and adopted by progressive circles in Vietnam, contributing to positive changes in awareness and practical activities, and marking a shift toward democratic tendencies in Vietnamese society. His thoughts continue to offer valuable insights for Vietnam’s current renovation process and the building of a democratic state.
