Legal harmonization in civil and commercial fields in the European Union and suggestions for ASEAN

Abstract

Extensive international and regional integration increases legal relations arising in international civil life. To facilitate and ensure benefits for the parties in these relations, one of the inevitable and urgent requirements for countries is the trend of legal harmonization and unification, reducing legal differences among involved countries. The article references legal regulations of the European Union (EU) - an area with a fairly high level of legal harmonization and unification, especially in the civil and commercial fields, helping its residents can establish cross-border civil and commercial relations freely and smoothly, thereby providing some suggestions for legal harmonization in ASEAN.
