The need to recognize gender reassignment rights in Vietnam

Abstract

Recognition of the right to gender reassignment is a trend in many countries around the world, which will entail a series of legal issues and consequences needed to be resolved that any country allowing this right must consider. Each country has its own politics, culture, and separate legal system to recognize the right to change gender. Legal recognition of the gender of transgender people is evidence of countries’ progress in respecting and ensuring the right to self-determination of transgender people.
