Labour law on ensuring sustainable employment for persons with disabilities and older workers
Abstract
Sustainable employment is one of the key objectives affirmed by the International Labour Organization (ILO), closely associated with the protection of human rights and the promotion of equitable and civilized social development. In the context of population ageing and the increasing demands of international integration, ensuring sustainable employment for persons with disabilities and older workers has become an urgent requirement in Vietnam. This article focuses on clarifying the concept and legal foundations of sustainable employment for these two specific groups of workers, based on the current legal framework, including the 2019 Labour Code, the 2010 Law on Persons with Disabilities, the 2009 Law on Older Persons, and relevant guiding documents. On that basis, the article assesses the current state of law and its practical implementation concerning sustainable employment for persons with disabilities and older workers, and proposes several recommendations aimed at improving the legal framework and enhancing the effectiveness of its implementation in the coming period.
