Abstract

Energy tourism has emerged as a new trend in the global tourism industry. This paper aims to examine and analyze theoretical and practical issues related to the development of this form of tourism in Vietnam. The authors employed a methodology of collecting and processing secondary data from various sources, combined with field surveys of typical energy tourism sites in Vietnam, such as the Hoa Binh hydroelectric plant and the Bac Lieu wind farm. Results indicate that energy tourism activities in Vietnam are still relatively novel and fragmented. While some energy facilities have begun welcoming visitors, these efforts are primarily small-scale, monotonous in form, and lack interconnectedness. After analyzing the underlying causes, the authors propose solutions to promote sustainable development of energy tourism. Among these proposals, raising awareness about the role and importance of this type of tourism is particularly emphasized as a key solution.
