Abstract

Educational research plays a crucial role in providing both theoretical and practical foundations to enhance management effectiveness and promote the sustainable development of higher education institutions. With the aim of clarifying publication trends regarding the contributions of this field to management practices within higher education institutions, this study employs bibliometric analysis on 561 publications collected from the Scopus database. The findings indicate a significant increase in the number of publications since 2018, with a remarkable surge in 2024. Keyword analysis and examination of the most influential publications reveal that key themes include human resource development, academic leadership, and quality assurance. Meanwhile, governance model innovation and higher education reform are identified as potential directions for future research. Furthermore, bibliographic coupling analysis highlights clusters of journals with similar thematic content and interconnected research topics. This paper not only offers a comprehensive overview of the field’s development but also identifies existing research gaps, thereby contributing to the orientation of future scholarly investigations.
