PART-TIME WORK OF TOURISM STUDENTS – A CASE STUDY IN DA NANG CITY
Abstract
This paper aimed to assess the reality of part-time work and the impact of part-time work on the learning outcomes of tourism students. Research data was collected through a survey of 535 tourism students at universities in Da Nang city. Descriptive Statistics and compare means t-test were used. Research results determined the percentage of students working part-time, purpose of part-time work, main jobs, nature of work, time and income from part-time work. In addition, research showed that students who worked part-time had lower academic results than students who did not work part-time; students who worked part-time with irregular time had lower academic results than students who worked part-time with fixed time; students who worked more than 6 hours per day had lower academic results than students who worked less than 6 hours per day. Through the research results, the paper proposes some suggestions for students, universities and tourism businesses about students’ part-time activities.
