THE “DIAMOND QUADRILATERAL” (USA, JAPAN, INDIA, AUSTRALIA) IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Abstract
In recent decades, in the face of changes in the international situation, major countries in the world are all adjusting their regional and global strategic relationships. The emergence of the “diamond quadrilateral” in the Indo-Pacific region, which includes the US, Japan, India, and Australia, is part of that strategic adjustment. So, what exactly is this diamond quadrilateral? How does this mechanism affect the political and security situation in the region? What is the status quo and outlook for this quartet in the future? On the basis of historical methods, logical methods, and geo-political analysis, the article will clarify the position of the “diamond quadrilateral” in contemporary international relations. The research results show that, under the influence of the world and regional situation, especially the rise of China, since 2007, the quartet has been working in promoting dialogue to increase influence. However, so far, this structure has not been able to have enough stability to maintain a true strategic quadrilateral in international relations. This study contributes to the interpretation of the multi-dimensional, mutually dominant influence of major powers in the current world political situation.
