ASSESSMENT OF THE DEVELOPMENT STATUS OF VIETNAM'S ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRY

Abstract

This article applied traditional research methods such as primary data collection method, data analysis and synthesis method in order to assess the production status of environmental industrial equipment, the development status of environmental industry service enterprises, the difficulties and challenges of Vietnam's environmental industry in recent times. Research results showed that Vietnam has about 928 enterprises operating in the fields of the environmental industry, attracting about 82,406 human resources. Notably, the number of non-state enterprises accounts for the majority. Vietnam's environmental industry only meets 5% of the total demand for urban and industrial wastewater treatment, about 15% of solid waste treatment needs and 14% of hazardous waste treatment needs. The average growth rate is over 20%/year. The main reason would be the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises is still limited. To promote the development of Vietnam's environmental industry, businesses need to improve their ability to provide quality products and services at competitive prices; there should be close assignment and coordination among relevant ministries and branches.
