Abstract

The article analyzes the context and main characteristics of Soviet Russian ideology and society in the early 20th century; the introduction of Soviet Russian ideology to Vietnam and its impacts on Vietnamese intellectuals in the early 20th century. Due to the characteristics of Vietnam as a colonial, semi-feudal Eastern country, the reception and application of Western and Russian ideology was quite difficult and slow, but some Vietnamese intellectuals in the early 20th century successfully assimilated it; their perceptions and actions were valuable to the development of Vietnamese revolutionary theoretical thinking and practice.
