Current situation of nurses’ health education counseling practices at Hung Vuong Hospital, 2024
Abstract
Objective: To describe the current situation of health education counseling provided bynurses at Hung Vuong General Hospital in 2024. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 150 inpatients at Hung Vuong General Hospital from May 2024 to October 2024. The study utilized a structured questionnaire to evaluate nurses’ health education counseling activities with a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.88. Results: The proportion of patients receiving health education and counseling was 76.0%, including guidance on hospital utility services (62.7%), diet and nutrition (78.7%), and infection prevention, disease transmission, and cross-infection control (74.7%). All patients reported satisfaction with the content of health education and counseling. Conclusion: The patient satisfaction rate regarding health education and counseling was relatively high. Nurses should continuously update their professional knowledge and refine their communication skills to enhance the effectiveness of health education and counseling for patients.
