CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RESULTS OF ENDOVENOUS LASER TREATMENT FOR VARICOSE VEINS

Abstract

Objective: To identifyclinical characteristics, risk factors and efficacy of counseling and education for patients with veins insufficiency who treated by endovascular laser ablation inCardiovascular Center, 103 Military Hospital. Subjects and methods: Interventional study on a group of 103 patients at the Cardiovascular Center, Military Medical Center 103 from July 2016 to August 2017. Use US 1470 nm wafer laser. Consultation, treatment guidelines for rehabilitation, re-examination and assessment of the quality of life. Results: 103 consecutive patients with varicose vein. There were 68 women (66%) and 35 men (34%)with a mean of 53,3± 11,8years. Risk factors: prolonged standing(97,1,6%), Female (62.1%), obesity (19,4%). The chief clinical feature was heaviness on the legs (90,3%), skin irritation (73,8%), muscle cramps (33%) and swelling (32%). CEAP clinical categories were C2 (57,2%), C3 (28,2%), C4 (13,6%) and C5 (1%). 68.9% of patients were consulted about diseases, preventive and treatment methods, good exercise practice. Time for back to normal life in the counseling group (2.55 days) was shorter than that of the non-counseling group (3.13 days). The rate of complete cured in the counseling group (77.5%) was higher than that of the non-counseling group (37.8%). Conclusions: Clinical features includeheaviness on the legs and itching in the skin. Counseling and education effect early diagnosis of the disease, reducing timein hospital and increasing the success rate of the intervention.
