FALL PREVENTION KNOWLEDGE FOR PATIENTS AMONG NURSING STUDENTS AT HA NAM MEDICAL COLLEGE IN 2019

Abstract

Objective: To assess the knowledge of fall prevention for patients among nursing students in Ha Nam Medical College in 2019. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of 70 third-year college nursing students at Ha Nam Medical College. The questionnaire consists of 35 questions to assess the knowledge of fall presention for patients. Results: The mean score of fall prevention knowledge of students was 20.1 ± 2.4 per 28 points of the total scale, in which the percentages of students had the fall prevention knowledge at good, moderate and poor level were 41.4%, 57.2% and 1.4%, respectively.There is a difference in knowledge between groups with different clinical practice times (p<0,05). Conclusion: The fall prevention knowledge for patients of nursing students was mainly at moderate level. Some contents of knowledge among students were limited. Therefore, teaching methods should be innovated and reinforcement the fall prevetion knowledge for patients need to be made for nursing students before their practice at hospital.
