OCCUPATIONAL- RELATED STRESS RISKS AMONG STAFF NURSES : A CROSS- SECTIONAL STUDY BASED ON THE EXPANDED NURSING STRESS SCALE
Abstract
Objective: To describe the level of occupational stress risk in a nurse at Phu Yen General Hospital. Method: The descriptive cross-sectional study design, the object of study was 281 clinical nurses at Phu Yen General Hospital. Subjects self-filled stress information on an Expanded Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS). The level of stress risk is classified into 03 groups: low, medium and high. Results: The nurses in the study group had a moderate level of stress risk. Out of 8 problem groups, 4 groups had low stress risk levels, 4 problem groups had an average stress risk levels. The lowest was when there were issues related to nursing colleagues (X±SD = 1,82 ± 0,36), issues that conflict with the doctor (X±SD = 1,90 ± 0,44). It was highest when there was a problem with the patient and his family (X±SD = 2,45 ± 0,46). Conclusion: The level of stress risk of nurses working at Phu Yen General Hospital was at an average level. The lowest was when there were issues related to nursing colleagues (X±SD = 1,82 ± 0,36). It was highest when there is a problem with the patient and his family (X±SD = 2,45 ± 0,46).
