THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEACHING ACTIVITIES AND NURSING STUDENT’S SATISFACTION WITH CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the level of the satisfaction of nursing students with clinical instructors and the relationships between training activities and nursing student satisfaction. Method: The study recruited 208 participants from the second- and the third- year nursing students of Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy. The cross-sectional studies design was conducted to collect data by using the Nursing Clinical Facilitator Questionnaire (NCFQ) to evaluate the student satisfaction with facilitator. Descriptive and Mann- Whitney, Kruskal- Wallis test were used to determine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Results: mean score of Nursing Clinical Facilitator Questionnaire was 110, almost of students had satisfactory score over 100 and group from 120 to 125 grade were the highest frequency rate with 57 students. Factors of clinical guideline activities affecting on student satisfaction were the numbers of directly individual instructions, or group instructions and specific clinical schedule. Conclusion: The rate of satisfied students was quite high; direct instruction, group instruction and specific clinical schedule were related to student satisfaction with the clinical instructors. Clinical guidance activities need to be improved to further improve student satisfaction with clinical instructors.
