THE SITUATION OF INFECTION SURGICAL WOUND CARE OF NURSES AT SAINT PAUL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2021
Abstract
Objective: To describe of the situation of nursing care for infected surgical wounds at Saint Paul general hospital in 2021.
Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional description, research on the practice of caring for infected surgical wounds of 36 nurses with 10 patients with surgical site infections at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Orthopedic Trauma Department - Saint Paul fromMay to July 2021 by direct observation of the nursing care of infected incisions with a pre-designed questionnaire.
Results: The rate of successful practice in surgical wound care is not high with 43.5%. The rate of practice reaching routine hand hygiene procedures accounted for 57.4%.
Conclusion: The practice of caring for infected surgical wounds is still not high
