KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE ON NUTRITION OF OUTPATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MANAGED BY LAO CAI ENDOCRINE HOSPITAL IN 2022

Abstract

Objective:To describe the current knowledge and practice on nutrition of out-patients with type 2 diabetes at Lao Cai Endocrine Hospital in 2022. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was used. The study used a pre-designed questionnaire to assess the knowledge and practice on nutrition among 95 out-patients with type 2 diabetes at the Lao Cai Endocrine Hospital during the period from March to May 2022. Results: The percentage of patients with good level knowledge about nutrition in diabetes was accounted for 68.4%. The mean score of knowledge was 7.8 ± 2.1 out of the total of 25 points of the knowledge scale. The percentage of patients with acceptant level of practice on diabetes nutrition was accounted for 58.9%. The mean score of practice was 14.0 ± 2.9 out of the total 25 points of the practice scale. Conclusion: Knowledge and practice on nutrition of out patients with type 2 diabetes treated at the Lao Cai Endocrine Hospital were limited.
