ASSESSING THE STATUS OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROCEDURES FOR PROTECTION OF BACTERIOLOGICAL INFECTIONS OF THE NURSES IN PHACO SURGERY AT HA DONG EYE HOSPITAL IN 2021

Abstract
Objectives: Assessing the status of compliance of infection prevention procedures in phaco surgery at Ha Dong Eye Hospital in 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on nurses’ compliance with infection prevention procedures in patients undergoing phaco surgery at Ha Dong Eye Hospital from May 1, 2021 to October 30, 2021. 214 observational checklists were performed by the supervisor who is the head nurse of the Department of Infection Control. Results: The process of infection prevention achieved good results: blood sugar testing procedure before surgery; use prophylactic antibiotics before, during and after surgery (100%); good compliance with regulations on entering and exiting the operating room and environmental sanitation of surfaces in the operating room (> 95%).Some procedures have good compliance: pre-operative patient preparation such as lacrimal irrigation, dressing (76.6%), dressing change procedure (71.5%), hand hygiene procedure (86%), waste separation process (89.7%), operating room air quality (79.2%).Conclusion: The adherence to infection prevention procedures by nurses in phaco surgery at Ha Dong Eye Hospital achieved good results. Hospitals need to supervise, train and guide infection control regulations and procedures, and improve the knowledge attitudes of medical staff in the prevention of hospital-acquired infections
