IMPROVING THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE FOR OUT-PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION IN TIEN HAI DISTRICT GENERAL HOSPITAL THAI BINH PROVINCE IN 2020

Abstract

Objective: To improve the knowledge of chronic kidney disease for hypertensive out-patients in Tien Hai District General Hospital – Thai Binh province 2020. Method: An one group pre-test and post-test design was conducted among 60 patients with hypertension, the educational contents regarding knowledge of chronic kidney disease and measured with the self-completed questionnaire. Results: After the intervention, the patient had a marked improvement in the knowledge of chronic kidney disease. Before intervention 8,3% of participants have right knowledge of kidney function of participants, after intervention is 38,3% and after 8 weeks is 26,7%. Right knowledge of methods to assess kidney status increased 21,7% (before intervention-T1) to 33,3% (immediately after the intervention time - T2) and 35% (after 8 weeks - time T3). Addition, the right knowledge of risk factors was 6,7% at T1 go up 28,3% at T2 and go down 23,3% at T3. There is a significant change in knowledge about symptoms of disease at T1 with 28,3% right answer, and rising 58,3% at T2 and at T3 was 43,3%. And right answer about symptoms in the early stages of chronic kidney disease were 15% at T1, 53,3% at T2, and 48,3% at T3. For knowledge of complications, the right answer of participants was10% at T1, 23,3% at T2, and 23,3% at T3. For the preventive measures before the intervention, there were 30% of participants have right answer before intervention, after intervention was 50% and after 8 weeks was 28,3%. Conclusion: The knowledge of chronic kidney disease patients was limited in the pre-educational intervention period but has significant improvement after intervention.
