KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE ON STANDARD PRECAUTIONS OF NURSING STAFF AT THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL OF ENDOCRINOLOGY IN 2022

Abstract

Objectives: To describe knowledge and attitudes about standard precautions of nurses at the National Hospital of Endocrinology in 2022. Methods: cross-sectional design was implemented among234 nurses working at National Hospital of Endocrinology from April 2022 to August 2023. Results: Knowledge: 88.5% of nurses have correct knowledge of standard precautions, in which knowledge of hygiene when coughing, breathing, arranging patients was the highest. The lowest knowledge was handling. medical equipment and cloth handling (4.3%). Attitude: 68.8% of nurses have a correct attitude of standard prevention, in which the highest rate in the content, purpose of wearing protective equipment is to protect health workers, patients and the community for, and the lowest rate in the content, if the medical staff’s adherence to precautions increases, the infection rate will decrease (5.1%). Conclusion: Nurses’ knowledge and attitudes about standard precautions are quite good. There is a need to continue to strengthen the knowledge and correct attitudes about standard precautions among nurses.
