THE EFFECT OF SIMULATION TEACHING METHOD ON PROBLEM - SOLVING SKILL OF NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the effect of simulation teaching method on problem-solving skill of nursing students. Method: A quasi-experimental study was conducted on 173 second year nursing students from May, 2021 to July, 2022. Every student participated in the Adult Nursing preclinical practice class which used a medium simulation teaching method. Personal Problem-Solving Inventory scale was used to measure problem-solving skill of the participants. Data were analysed by descriptive statistics and Pair sample t-test with significant level as p < 0.05. Results: Mean score of Personal Problem-Solving Inventory posttest (M = 127.24 ± 12.11) was lower than prettest (M = 131.59 ± 16.88), indicating better problem-solving skill of the participants. Conclusion: Simulation-based course can develop problem-solving skill of nursing students, so it should be applied in nursing education
