Knowledge and attitude towards early detection of disabilities among children under 6 years of age of commune health workers in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province between 2022 and 2023

Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to describe the knowledge and attitude towards early detection of disabilities among children under 6 years of age of commune health workers in Quang Ninh province between 2022 and 2023 and analyze some related factors. Subject and method: The study conducted interviews with 176 commune health workers in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province, from December 2022 to June 2023 through a pre-designed questionnaire. Results: The percentage of health workers with acquired knowledge of early detection of disability and the percentage of those with acquired attitude towards this among children under 6 years old are 78,4% and 72,7% respectively. Health workers working at health stations, participating in community-based rehabilitation programs are the factors that increase knowledge and attitudes about early detection with disabilities. Acquired knowledge about early detection of disability is also a factor that increases the acquired attitude towards early disability detection of commune health workers. Conclusion: The percentage of health workers with acquired knowledge of early detection of disability in children under 6 years old is relatively high, but the rate of those with acquired attitude towards this is not high. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the attitude towards early detection of disabilities among commune health workers, especially village health
