EFFECTS OF ECOLOGICAL FACTORS ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF PLASTIC WASTE IN THE MANGROVES OF DA LOC COMMUNE, HAU LOC DISTRICT, THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

The study was conducted in mangroves in Da Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province in order to determine the status of the distribution of plastic litter and ecological factors affecting the distribution of plastic litter in the mangrove. The results show that the forests near the estuaries have the largest amount of plastic litter (58.50 ± 26.10; 2.92 ± 0.75 kg), the central forests have the lowest amount of plastic litter 12.70 ± 8.92) and the forests near residential areas have the smallest amount of plastic litter (0.31 ± 0.06 kg). The biotic and abiotic ecological factors of mangroves such as tree density, tree height, plant species composition, distance to the discharge source, season and the interaction of some ecological factors have important influences on the distribution of plastic waste in mangroves.
