Abstract

The present study aimed to isolate fungi which performed antagonistic capacity against the pathogenic fungus Fusarium sp. on plants of the family Cucurbitaceas. Three potential strains of Trichoderma and two of Chaetonium were tested for their antagonistic activity. The results indicated that the antagonism of 3 strains of Trichoderma against Fusarium sp. was very high with inhibition efficacy of 92 - 100%. Two strains of Chaetonium showed inhibition efficacy ranging from high (67.7%) to medium (51.1%). The pot experiments using cucumber variety Fadia revealed that the recovery rate of plants which were artificially infected with Fusarium was 76.67% in the treatment with Trichoderma, 56.67% in the treatment with Chaetonium, and 80.0% in the treatment of both Trichoderma and Chaetonium.
