Determinants affecting on citizens’ mask-wearing intention to fight against Covid-19 pandemic - An empirical study in Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
Covid-19 has emerged as a global pandemic, resulting in significant side effects on socio-economic developments. Wearing mask is one of the methods against Covid-19 disease, which is considered as simple and effective. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study examined the key factors influencing mask-wearing intention of residents when they go to public places. By applying SPSS 20.0 software for the sample size of 452 residents, the regression models are used to process and explain data. The research indetifies six factors, namely attitude; social norms; perceived behavioral control; knowledge about Covid-19 disease; laws and regulations; propaganda significantly directly affected residents’ mask-wearing intention, while attitude is the strongest construct significantly to predict individuals’ intention. The study also proposes some implications for the policy-makers to improve citizens’ mask-wearing intention, contributing effectively.
