Analysis of Vietnam's Cashew Export Activities to Large-Economy Countries

Abstract

This study aims to identify and measure the factors affecting Vietnam's cashew nut exports to several large-economy countries in the world. The research employed the gravity model with a panel dataset of 14 nations from 2004 to 2023, analyzing and choosing from the Pooled OLS, FEM, REM and FGLS techniques for regression and model estimation. The findings indicated that the GDP of the importing nation, the number of people in the workforce, the exchange rate, cashew nut harvest output, and geographical distance positively impact the export turnover of cashew nuts in Vietnam. Simultaneously, the GDP per capita of importing countries and cashew growing area variable adversely affects the export turnover of cashew nuts. Based on the findings of the study, the author suggests some recommendations to increase cashew nut exports to collaborating nations.
