Research Trends on ESG and CSR and Their Impact on Vietnam Bank Performance Through the Lens of Bibliometric Analysis
Abstract
Purpose: This study examines the integration of ESG and CSR in Vietnam’s banking sector, analyzing global and domestic research to identify trends, themes, and future directions.
Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric analysis of Scopus publications (2018–April 2025) was conducted, applying author, institutional, keyword, and thematic clustering techniques to map scholarly networks and emerging topics.
Findings: Research interest has risen sharply since 2021, focusing on sustainability, digital transformation, performance, and stakeholder engagement. Key directions include ESG disclosure, financial inclusion, customer loyalty, and governance, though challenges remain in consistency and measurement frameworks.
Originality/value: As one of the first comprehensive bibliometric studies on ESG/CSR in Vietnamese banking, this research links global and local perspectives, offering insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to enhance sustainability-driven strategies.
