The Relationship between Student Engagement and Perceived Service Value: The Mediating Role of Absorptive Capacity
Abstract
This empirical study proposes the mediating role of absorptive capacity in the relationship between student engagement and perceived service value employing official data collected from 2,075 students at five universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The research finds that student engagement positively effects perceived service value. At the same time, results show that absorptive capacity partially mediates the influence of student engagement on perceived service value, thus further contributing to the existing literature on student engagement, perceived service value, and absorptive capacity. By applying Variance-Based Structural Equation Modeling to process the models with three latent variables and two hypotheses with respect to the linkages among these variables, the results indicate that both hypotheses are accepted at the significance level of less than 1%.
