Abstract

This study uses a Bayesian binary logistic regression model with a dataset obtained from the Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) in 2018 to estimate the influence of demographic characteristics on household credit card usage. The results show that households living in urban areas are more likely to use credit cards than rural ones. An interesting result is that the household using a credit card increases as the number of household members increases. Male-headed households are less likely to use credit cards than female-headed households. In addition, the number of years of schooling of the head of the household increases as the household uses a credit card increases. Household heads with elementary or higher professional qualifications are more likely to use credit cards than the other group. From the research results, we make some recommendations to increase the level of credit card usage in households in Vietnam.
