Monetary Policy Implementation of the State Bank of Viet Nam and Income Distribution

Abstract

The trend towards central banks' monetary policy and the expected end goals such as price stability, growth, or unemployment can also be directed towards more specific targets by each region (households, businesses). The paper conducts an overview of the monetary policy implementation of the State Bank of Vietnam in the period 1996 - 2021 and the current situation of income, expenditure and distribution of household income in Vietnam through the results of the Vietnam Households Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) of the General Statistics Office. Through statistical data, the paper analyses and assesses monetary policy operations and trends toward reducing income inequality as a basis for implications and recommendations to policy managers.
