The Influencing Factors of Green Bank Development During the Post-Covid-19 Context in Vietnam
Abstract
Green Bank (GB) plays an essential role in promoting sustainable development. This study aims to evaluate the development level of GB and identify the influencing factors by using in-depth interviews with 30 bank specialists and managers at six representative state-owned and private commercial banks. The results indicate that the fundamental factors are government policy regarding GB, sustainable development, and support from related international networks and associations, whereas the solid commitment to GB given by bank leaders is the primary internal influencing factor for the development of GB. The results also show that the Covid-19 pandemic also affects the development of GB in both positive and negative ways. This study provides empirical evidence for the development of GB in Vietnam, and it offers a reference for government departments, bank managers, and practitioners to make decisions toward the goal of green growth and sustainable development in Vietnam.
