Abstract

Game-based learning has beenincreasingly popular in various subjects atdifferent educational levels up to now. Inparticular, board games are also attracting moreattention from worldwide teachers and researchers.Board games used in education are often built withgame elements such as storylines, real-lifesituations, challenges, etc., integrated with theknowledge and skills students need to acquire, toimprove student’s interest and motivation inlearning. However, designing an effective boardgame for teaching chemistry is challenging, especially for those without prior game designexperience. Based on theoretical and practicalresearch related to the design and application ofboard games in teaching, we proposed principlesand a procedure for creating board games to booststudent’s interest in studying Chemistry. Thearticle mentioned a way of using a board game toteach the topic of “Chemical energy” in Grade 10Chemistry, analyzed the five-step procedure indetail, and gave a specific example of designing aboard game of "Explore the World with Chemists”
