Abstract

Son La hydropower project has been built and put into operation, causing many changes for basic natural resources such as land, water and forests. This volatility process has also significantly affected the livelihoods of people in the basin of Son La hydropower reservoir, especially resettled people living in lakeside areas. Many economic, cultural, and environmental values of altered resources require people to make changes in their own perceptions of the value of existing resources. In the scope of the paper, the author has focused on examining the existing ecological economic system models of 70 households in 5 villages of Chieng Lao commune, Muong La district (within the scope of basin of Son La hydropower) to clearly see the change in the way of thinking and behavior of the people with the degree of natural change, leading to the difference in the components that constitute the models. From the fact of investigating 8 existing models, it is shown that the main and traditional components such as fields, gardens, fields, and stables continue to be maintained but there are differences in scale. At the same time, there are two new components of aquaculture and tourism in accordance with the appearance and expansion of the water surface when the hydropower reservoir is formed.
