ON THE GENERATION OF THE CREMONA GROUP

Abstract

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. We show that any set of generators of the Cremona group Crk(n) of the projective space Pn k with n greater than 2 contains an infinite and uncountable number of non trivial birational isomorphisms.
